I was cleaning out some old papers of mine, and I found this. It was originally written about 4 years ago. I cleaned it up a bit, and updated the lines to fit my current beliefs. The basic framework is the same though.

Image of Life

I am an image of
life
through stained glass.
Vibrant and bright,
I radiate color and vitality.
Visible laughter splashed
on the floor,
More alive for
the fixed nature of my flesh.

I am and image of life through
stained
glass dripped on the
gleaming planks of the world
Bleeding decadence onto the pristine
surface of the innocent.
Rotting hope in the humid light of
reality. More alive for the
imperfect nature of my mind.

I am an image of life through stained
glass.
Strained beauty trembling in
a leaden web.
Fragility made concrete.
Shattering into infinite shards
falling like snowflakes.
Fleetingly individual.
More alive for the brittle nature
of my soul.

My coping mechanism is like putting a
bandaid over a snakebite.
Cosmetic
at best. Smile and
tell them you got a bad papercut. Hide
your stumbling walk
on the dance floor. Choke
down the taste of
venom in the back of your throat.
Quietly
praying that the symptoms just go away.

I am sorry, I can't seem to make anything positive come out. ><

Nevertheless, here's something currently untitled:

Clawing
through the afterbirth of my own
self-destruction,
marveling at this new world of
my own making.
Made forfeit by my own actions.
Drifting through the questions,
the accusations
of those who would say,
"You brought us into this new land.
What are the rules? How do we live?"
Baffled, I shrug wordlessly.
There are no rules.
There is no living.
There is only an empty vessel,
wandering through a landscape made
deliberately barren.

I sometimes wonder
if it all comes to a point where
something happens and you say
“Huh, who would have thought that
I-”
But then I can’t finish
the sentence because it hasn’t
happened.
Yet.
Or maybe it did happen
and I just didn’t
notice it.
Missed my chance to tell myself,
"I told you so."

But most of the time I don't care.
It's so easy to get caught up in who you aren't
and who you could have been
and who you should be
and who you would be if only you
took the time for
rest and relaxation
rhyme and reason
reading, writing, and arithmetic
that sometimes you forget that
you exist.

So take a moment to
peel back the layers of
expectations, anticipations,
hopes, dreams,
worries, and fears.
Make sure there's still a
person there.

So here's the current status of all of my projects:

Skyhawke- The rewrite is nearly finished... of course, looking back I realize that it needs more work. /facepalm

Syn- God knows. I just completely reworked his entire lifespan, so who knows.

Juanil (my Nanowrimo project)- Stuck on a plot point.

The Fool

Tripping into life.
A new beginning.
Laughing at the sights,
the sounds, the scents,
the pitfalls. Unaware of the dangers they hold.
Blissfully unaware, some would say.
Some would keep their eyes to the ground,
wary of a single misstep.
Conscious of their own fallibility.
But not the Fool.
He only has eyes for the stars.
For his dreams.
Which is best lived?
The life lived
short because the eyes were blind to the dangers ahead?
Or the life lived long and blind
to the beauty of the present?

First bit of news: I'm almost done with the Skyhawke rewrite. It's actually going to become the first part in a trilogy.

Secondly: It's the 10th anniversary of the Guardian universe! That's right, 10 years ago, a bored 5th grader came up with a cast of superhuman girls who saved the world a lot. Since then, the Guardians have grown and changed quite a bit(I hope <_>). For instance, Avarice was the original bad guy of the story. She was the rogue Guardian bent on world domination and the others had to defeat her. I have since abandoned that idea (obviously), but Avarice still has a few of the qualities from that time, like her name and her appearance. The cast of characters has expanded considerably, as has the world they live in.

In celebration of this anniversary, I'm going to post up my Skyhawke rewrite which completely overhauls my Guardian universe. All other stories will eventually be altered to follow the new setting in SH. Secondly, I will be writing something for NaNoWriMo. It will feature a character from outside the kingdom where the Guardians live. All I know about her atm is that her name it Li'tijuanil.

In short, look forward to me actually putting up a finished project sometime soon. :)

Skyhawke is trucking along. I removed the pixies (Sachi and Roki) and changed some events in the beginning. I also changed the layout of the circle. Before it was:

Death (NNW) Life (NNE)
Darkness (NWW) Light (NEE)
Water (SWW) Fire (SEE)
Air (SSW) Earth (SSE)

With Time in the center. The parentheses are directions. The new circle is:

Water (N); Darkness (NE); Earth (E); Life (SE); Fire (S); Light (SW); Air (W); Death (NW).

Time still in the center.

This new configuration (if that made any sense to you) allows me to put a lot more symbolism into the circle. Meh, you'll see.

Another change is upcoming. When I first wrote Skyhawke, I made Syn up because I needed a crime boss. In SH, his role is very minor. Since then, Syn has become a very developed character in my mind. He will be playing a much more pivotal role in this version of SH. Talyria will also be making a cameo, if you remember her.

This time around, Skyhawke is a lot more cohesive in my opinion, and the characters better developed. It's a lot of fun to write. :)

Still here. As usual my creativity is either completely dead or unable to settle on a single topic. Skyhawke is my current project. One of the major changes to the story is the prominence of Fidarus as a character. He's had a few physical changes, and a much more central role to to the story. He's still an asshole though, and I love him for it. I'm thinking of removing the pixies entirely, they have no real purpose to the story. Maarkiss will stay, Aarmarissa may not. Syn is of course staying, and he will also have a much larger role. Beyond that I'm not quite sure.

On a separate note, I've been feeling really crap lately. Here's what came of it:

Everything I see gets
pictured
eyes bulging, walls slashed.
Choked, ripped, crushed.
Scared that if I don’t rip a
verbal scar
into this page then
I’ll do it to someone’s flesh.

It's very short, but it gets the sensation across in my opinion.

Damn near half a year since I last updated this.

But here's what's up currently. I've been running into the same problem every time I set a new storyline in my Guardian universe. The damned universe is two inconsistant. What this means is that I've decided to go back and rewrite the whole shebang, starting with Skyhawke. For laughs, I'll give you a side by side comparison of old SH and new SH. What a difference three years makes, eh?

Here's the poem that inspired the name for my writing journal.

Sunlight Whisper

Strangely impersonal, yet intensely affecting;
a sunlight whisper running tangent to my mind.
Fleet-footed and whimsical; it
trickles through my thoughts, draping a
blanket of light on my fears.
Making them gleam.
Like slivers of glass, the sound of it is musical.
Dangerous.
Seductive like the sleek edge of a knife; but
phantasmal. Inconsequential
except for the delicate wound left behind.

Prestige keeps eating up my writing time. I haven't added much new material to the 30+ pages I have, but I have gone back and rewritten a lot of it. I changed the formatting a bit so that fictionpress.com will recognize my scene breaks. For some reason ***** doesn't show up, so I used horizontal rules instead. I realized that too many of my characters' names ended with -ic, so I changed Alteric to Alterin. Other than that, I've added little details and I moved the plot up. It won't make an appearance until the third chapter, but at least it's there. ^^; Anyway, here's the second chapter.

So, Prestige has been tickling my fingers lately. It's currently at 30+ pages. I've gone back and made changes, so here's the new first chapter. I would be interested in hearing how it compares with the first draft. Edit 1.2- Changed some little stuff here and there.

But I do have a little something to share. This story is tentatively titled 'Prestige', but I'll find a real title for it eventually. Also, LJ doesn't erecognize italics, and I don't feel like putting all the tags in... so... sorry. :P Let me know if it's too confusing and I'll get off my ass and put them in. This story also contains a bit of romance (M/F this time ^^). Currently there are 18 pages of this written, so lemme know if you would like to see more of it!

Well, I went through the various things I've scribbled out over this past year, and I found this. It doesn't have a title yet, but I do like the characters. Maybe I'll continue it someday. Be warned, it's definitely going in a m/m direction.

Welcome to Sake-chan's official writing journal! I made this because there's a lot of stuff I would like feedback on, but I don't consider it finished enough to put somewhere like FP.com.

Anywho, here's the first bit. Please tell me what you think!
